Would you present your work at a CreativeSquat Pecha Kucha event?
Absolutely! Please send me info.
About Me:
My personal mantra, "perception is reality" shows through in both the traditional art and photography projects I take on. As a primarily self taught artist, it's very important to me to express the world around me in the unique way that I see it, but also, to leave many aspects open to interpretation by the viewer. I believe, through life experiences we all have differing perspectives on life, in general, and the opinions we hold about art and our surroundings. Those opinions, however varied, are each valid in their own way because they are truth...if even to just one person.
I've been through many hardships in my life, and I realize that at my age there are many more to come...that's just the way it is. But the ability to see the light of beauty in the world through all the darkness is something that I strive for on a daily basis...and I don't think I am alone in this endeavor.
Since I could hold a pencil, I've been fascinated with the creation of visual expression. My dad was always drawing and doodling when I was growing up, and for the longest time, I wanted to be just like him. He always called himself an artist, but, to my disappointment, I never saw him do anything with this valuable talent he held. There would be many more let downs from my father, as years went by...things entirely too gruesome to mention, here. However, through coping with these things I could not change about him...I, myself, went through some changes. Realizing that I did not wish to be just like him....I wanted to be something more. I became the person I am today with the motivation to make sure my art reaches everyone possible...and even if it isn't admired, it is seen. It is real. It is me.
I have been commissioned for several paintings throughout the last decade and continue to work on new requests as they come. July 2007, I was involved in a group show at the Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum (Dallas, Texas). . .the theme was 'the Seven Deadly Sins' and I was excited to see that my piece (Vanity) was the first sold on opening night!
Here are a few of my most recent paintings:
A recent serious interest in photography has occupied much of my time as of late, and while my portfolio is small, I believe there are some truly beautiful pieces to show...and there will be even better ones very soon. I am always thinking about new ideas for creative and artistic photo sessions.
Any and all insight and criticism are always encouraged and accepted. I'd love to know what you think, even if you aren't in love with any of my work...don't be shy! :)
Thanks for your words again. I hope more people will see my potential. That image you were talking about...it was snow...not dirt...Thats the way Romania looks in winter time up in the mountains. All the best!
P.S. Check me on the www.juxtapoz.com , on readers art page...it seems they like me too.
Thank you for your nice words...I am new arround and I am interested in showing...I dont know people here and Dean was the first to give me an opportunity so I took it. I hope I did a good impression and you are one of the proofs. My works are relatively small to medium the biggest has 48/60 in. You doing very good yourself as far as I saw here...you must like colors the way I do...visit my website, you'll see some more stuff over there including my photographic visions. All the best!
I noticed at TCC that the people who were good at drawing already did better with Illustrator, so you should be able to learn it quickly. Illustrator can also be imported into Photoshop. Actually, Illustrator's probably more of a coloring book for grown-ups than Photoshop is lol!
I took a whole class on Illustrator at TCC and use it some. It's a drawing program, and fun. It's got gradients in it. You can use fonts in it too. I designed a book cover just using Illustrator . . . it's not published yet though--the author still hasn't gotten back to me about the revisions! oh well lol!
Oh I know! It's like 'oh, what would it look like with this filter?' and 'what would it look like with this other filter?' And then I discovered you could put one filter over another on the same file, and that's what I did to the pics in my presentation, and some of 'em I'd made up before I'd seen the info about Pecha Kucha on craigslist and then I had to think back to what filters I used but I couldn't think of all of 'em . . . It's easy to lose track when you're focusing on the results, but then again if you want to replicate it . . . .
Lisa,
Your presentation was interesting. More potentialities for Photoshop i.e. just putting an effect on one part of the picture.
I'd seen a print of Millais' Ophelia painting; I specialized in Victorian lit in grad school but I think that print was in my highschool lit book .
Have a good rest of the weekend!
