Keeping a tempo with picture to sound should keep you on track, if there is a dramatic end sentence or 2 allow them to fade out or dissolve slower. That's what I do. It's all in the feel. Try to keep it as close to 3 minutes or less, that is the definitive time where people will begin to space out.

I appreciate you sticking around :) Most of my work is completely original, with the exception of the "Alice" images and a few that are obviously portraits (Adriana Lima, for one). I think it broke the momentum and lots of people left. I love the concept but are you thinking of another type event? Maybe for the outside more extreme artists? Maybe add some fashion designers to show images of their work? I think it was pretty good and lots of fun.
